"Le chant des oiseaux 1" von Jennifer Fuchs

Die im Rahmen des Projektes "SAVVY Funk - an iteration of every time a ear di sound, the documenta 14 radio" entstandenen Radiostücke "Le chant des oiseaux 1" und "Le chant des oiseaux 2" für die Sendung "Early Birds" bestehen aus, in Weimar und Umland, selbstaufgenommenen Soundscapeaufnahmen.
Die Idee dazu gab die Fragestellung, wie es wohl wäre, wenn man einem Vogel ein Aufnahmegerät gäbe, sodass er die verschiedenen Klanglandschaften, durch die er in seinem alltäglichen Leben kreist, aufnehmen würde: Unterschiedliche Orte zu unterschiedlichen Uhrzeiten.
Wie etwa eine Aufnahme um 4.00 Uhr morgens in meinem Garten, nachmittags um 16.00 Uhr an einem Bach im Kirschbachtal oder auch in den frühen Abendstunden im Ilmpark. Das Interessante an den Aufnahmen sind nicht nur die reinen Vogelstimmen, sondern auch die dahinter liegenden Klangebenen, wie zum Beispiel Bachgeplätscher, das Summen von Insekten oder ein Flugzeug, dass zufällig zum Aufnahmemoment vorbeiflog und auch als technisch-maschineller "Vogel" betrachtet werden kann.
Die beiden Radiostücke wurden als Klangcollage zusammengesetzt und bearbeitet, sodass eine Komposition aus den Aufnahmen und ihren verschiedenen Soundebenen entstand.

Tim Etchells, Aisha Orazbayeva and Uriel Barthélémi
Etchells and collaborators Aisha Orazbayeva and Uriel Barthélémi stage a durational intervention on the theme of emergency, comprising pre-recorded sections and extended live improvisation combining voice (Etchells), violin (Orazbayeva) and percussion (Barthélémi). Based initially on a simple set of simple utterances around the thematic of emergency (in numerous inflections and contexts), Etchells uses techniques of looping/repeating, varying and shifting emphasis and inflection and crosscutting to fragment and explore the language, entering into dialogue with collaborators Orazbayeva and Barthélémi whose work departs from, supports and at times eradicates Etchells’ language. Emergency explores the space between semantic use of language and its more musical, textural, sonic properties and rests on a continuos process of shifting between registers - creating, disintegrating and re-inventing meaning.

Tim Etchells is an artist and a writer based in the UK whose work shifts between performance, visual art and fiction. He has worked in a wide variety of contexts, notably as the leader of the world-renowned Sheffield-based performance group Forced Entertainment. Exhibiting and presenting work in significant institutions all over the world, he is currently Professor of Performance & Writing at Lancaster University. Etchells’ work has been shown recently at Tate Modern, Cubitt, Hayward Gallery and Bloomberg SPACE in London, at Turner Contemporary, The Grundy and Compton Verney in the UK, at Witte de With, Rotterdam, and MUHKA (Antwerp).
Aisha Orazbayeva is a Kazakh-born London-based violinist. She has released two critically acclaimed solo albums on Nonclassical and PRAH recordings featuring her own compositions, and has performed internationally in venues such as New York’s Carnegie Hall. Recent releases include Bryn Harrison's Receiving the Approaching Memorywith Mark Knoop on Another Timbre, vinyl EP Seeping Through with Tim Etchells on PRAH recordings and Scelsi's Duo vinyl EP for violin and cello on SN variations. Aisha regularly performs with ensembles Plus-Minus and Apartment House. Aisha's third solo album Telemann Fantasias played using contemporary/extended violin techniques was released in November 2016.
Uriel Barthélémi is a drummer, composer and electro-acoustic musician. He has collaborated in numerous areas of the performing arts since 2002: dance, marionettes, theatre, as well as the visual arts. Intimately combining drums and electronics, a flexible composing style and improvisation Barthélémi has had works commissioned by Césaré – CNCM, Sacem / CDMC, Al Mamal Art Foundation, Sharjah Art Foundation. He is also an associate composer of the Soundtrack Company and Puce Muse Studios. He collaborates and appears with artists such as Hélène Breschand, Tarek Atoui, Kazuyuki Kishino (KK NULL), Antoine Schmitt, Veronica Vallecillo, Taro Shinoda, Rigo23, Nikhil Chopra, amongst others.He has played and performed in music and performances festivals such as The Jerusalem show IV (2010), Performa (N.Y., 2011), Sharjah Art Biennial 11 & 12 (U.A.E., 2013 & 2015), festival Croisements (Beijing, 2014), Sommer akademie – Zentrum Paul Klee (Bern, Switzerland, 2015), March meeting (Sharjah, 2012 & 2016), Serendipity arts festival (India, 2016), Fiac (Paris 2016).

Our Musuem lässt zwei voneinander unabhängige Text/Ton-Ströme gegeneinander laufen, die entweder zeitgleich auf verschiedenen Radiofrequenzen gesendet und auf vielen Geräten gehört werden können oder einander auf derselben Frequenz mal verstärken, mal stören, dabei aber kaum ineinandergreifen. Die Textfragmente hinterfragen gängige Vorstellungen vom Wesen der Klänge, vom Musikmachen als solchem und vom Akt der Darbietung. Einzelne Klangelemente heben einander durch Frequenzabgleich und nahezu vollständigen Gleichklang auf. Gleichklang in der Musik bedeutet die Dopplung ähnlichen Materials. Our Musuem unterzieht den Gleichklang einer Auseinander-Setzung im eigentlichen Sinn des Wortes, macht aus ihm einen Dis-Kurs oder geteilten Strom.

In 2013, my main backup harddisk had a severe crash. I could just barely rescue the 2 Million files contained on it, but the entire directory structure was destroyed. 10 years of digital audio productivity, not lost but totally decontextualized. Since then, I keep coming back to this file orphanage, at times unsure what to do with it, occasionally employing it in a performance. By now, 4 years later, I have enough command line skills to harvest the data from this open-pit data mine. The Multiverse Crosstalk Radio - Hard Disk Orphan Mashup - for Savvy Radio - is a stream, generated from this crashed archive. It is composed of my field recordings, single tracks from arrangements, cuts from night long audio coding sessions, voice mail messages, some files that do not belong to me, and tons of Apple Loops.

SAVVY Funk
"SAVVY Funk" von documenta 14 und Deutschlandfunk Kultur ist Teil des Radioprogramms "Every Time A Ear Di Soun". Es umfasst unter anderem 32 Auftragswerke, die seit dem 8. April durch acht internationale Radiosender zirkulieren. Die deutsche Station "SAVVY Funk" ist ein dreiwöchiges Radioprogramm, das täglich und rund um die Uhr neu von Künstler_innen gestaltet wird, deren Arbeit im Ausstellungsraum des SAVVY Contemporary öffentlich zugänglich ist.
Die teilnehmenden Künstler_innen arbeiten bei der Entwicklung und Durchführung des Radioprogramms mit Student_innen der Professur für Experimentelles Radio an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar zusammen.
