    Electronic Animisms | Interspecies Crosstalk by Andrew Pekler (live set)
    This YNK chapter explores the animated imaginaries of fellow sound artist and musicians. The piece that will be played live today is "Interspecies Crosstalk" by Andrew Pekler. Peklers music and sound work is an experiment with found materials, be they samples, instruments or genre conventions. Pekler has electronically investigated the emotional sweep and grain of easy listening music, prepared pianos with mobile telephones, composed an entire album from text descriptions each track, and installed a record shop in an art gallery in order to sell one record with 300 different covers. He has composed music for theater, dance and film, produced video and sound installations and played concerts and festivals in Europe, North and South America, East Asia and Australia."Interspecies Crosstalk" is played departing form insects sounds from South-East Asia, we received from Rohini Balakrishnan, an ecologist and professor at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, where she works on animal behaviour and acoustic communication.

    Angesichts zunehmender Zensur in der Türkei nimmt die Zahl der Wahrsager und Astrologinnen zu. Diese genießen den Status von Autoritäten. Sie warnen ihre Kunden abhängig von den Positionen der Sterne vor Bomben und sagen das Datum eines Volksaufstands ausgehend von Planetenkonstellationen voraus. Während Populismus, zwischenmenschliche Härte und Diskriminierung nicht nur in der Türkei, sondern in aller Welt ein nie gekanntes Ausmaß erreichen, fragt sich jeder, was als Nächstes passieren wird. Das Projekt Future Tense verfremdet unseren gewohnten Informationskonsum, indem es Propaganda, Nachrichten und Wahrsagerei durcheinanderrührt. Wie Freud einmal feststellte, ist Wahrsagerei der Ausdruck des Wunsches, ein persönliches Trauma möge sich auflösen. Future Tense beleuchtet die Frage, was genau wir eigentlich glauben wollen.

    Das Projekt unterstreicht die mythisch-symbolisch aufgeladene Beziehung zwischen Mensch und Meer, die im Mittelmeerraum geografische Grenzen und Sozialisationsformen bestimmt hat. Im Mittelpunkt steht ein Boot, dessen Reise der Wiederentdeckung der Einheit von Mensch und Natur und somit auch der Integration von Arbeit und Meer gilt. Das Boot treibt endlos von einer Generation zur nächsten, es vermittelt Wissen und Respekt auf der Basis ungeschriebener Gesetze der Wechselwirkung zwischen Menschheit und Natur. Barrieren können das, was das Mittelmeer von je her gewesen ist, nicht verhindern oder unterminieren: ein Kreuz-und-Quer der Integration, bei dem die physische Dimension des Meeres nie etwas Trennendes hatte.

    SAVVY Funk

    "SAVVY Funk" von documenta 14 und Deutschlandfunk Kultur ist Teil des Radioprogramms "Every Time A Ear Di Soun". Es umfasst unter anderem 32 Auftragswerke, die seit dem 8. April durch acht internationale Radiosender zirkulieren. Die deutsche Station "SAVVY Funk" ist ein dreiwöchiges Radioprogramm, das täglich und rund um die Uhr neu von Künstler_innen gestaltet wird, deren Arbeit im Ausstellungsraum des SAVVY Contemporary öffentlich zugänglich ist.
    Die teilnehmenden Künstler_innen arbeiten bei der Entwicklung und Durchführung des Radioprogramms mit Student_innen der Professur für Experimentelles Radio an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar zusammen.
